PRIVACY POLICY
Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
369 Recovery LLC ("we", "us", "our") operates the The Daily Compass mobile application (the "App"). This page
informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal information when
you use our App, and the choices you have associated with that data.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Email address (required for sign-in and password recovery)
- Display name or anonymous alias (your choice — anonymity is supported)
- Recovery program details you choose to share (sobriety date, home group, sponsor info)
Optional / User-Provided Content
- Profile photo (only if you choose to upload one — stored as base64 in our database)
- Journal entries (private to you, encrypted at rest)
- Community messages and meeting participation
Device Permissions We Request
- Camera — Only when you tap "Take Photo" to set a profile picture. Photos are stored on your device until you choose to upload them.
- Photo Library — Only when you select an existing photo for your profile picture.
- Microphone — Only when you join an audio meeting room (real-time voice with peers).
- Notifications — To deliver the daily reflection reminder you opt into.
We do not access your contacts, location, files, SMS, or background camera/microphone.
Automatically Collected
- Anonymized usage analytics (screens visited, feature interactions)
- Technical logs needed for debugging (device type, OS version, crash reports)
- IP address (for security and abuse prevention only)
2. How We Use Information
- Provide and maintain the App's features (daily entries, meetings, journals)
- Send you the daily reflection reminder (only if you opt in)
- Process Premium subscription payments via Stripe (we never see your card number)
- Send transactional emails (receipts, password resets) via SendGrid
- Improve the App by understanding which features are used most
- Respond to your support requests
3. Anonymity-First Identity
The Daily Compass is built around the recovery community's tradition of anonymity. You may use a generated alias
(e.g., "QuietRiver47") instead of your real name in meetings and community spaces. You can switch your
identity mode at any time in Settings. Your real name is never shown to other users unless you explicitly
opt in to display it.
4. Sharing & Third Parties
We share data only with the following processors, each strictly for the purpose listed:
- Stripe — Payment processing (subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy)
- SendGrid — Transactional email delivery
- Expo Push Service — Delivers notifications to your device
- OpenAI — Content generation for daily reflections (no personal data sent)
- Google Play / Apple App Store — App distribution
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.
5. Data Retention
- Account data: retained while your account is active
- Journal entries: retained until you delete them
- Community messages: retained for 90 days, then archived
- Account deletion: all personal data is removed within 30 days of your request
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information
from children. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
7. Your Rights
You can, at any time:
- Access or download your data — email 369recoveryllc@gmail.com
- Correct inaccurate information from your Profile screen
- Delete your account from Settings → Delete Account
- Opt out of notifications from Settings or your device settings
- Export your journal entries
Residents of California (CCPA), the EU/UK (GDPR), and other regions may have additional rights —
contact us to exercise them.
8. Security
We use industry-standard practices: passwords hashed with bcrypt, all traffic over HTTPS/TLS, payments
handled by PCI-DSS compliant Stripe, and database access restricted by IP allowlist. No system is 100%
secure, but we work hard to protect your data.
9. International Transfers
Our servers are located in the United States. By using the App, you consent to your information being
transferred to and processed in the United States.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by
posting the new policy in the App and updating the "Last updated" date above.
